Eden Garmon, LCSW

(she/her/hers)

I am passionate about creating a space for marginalized communities such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+. As a woman of color, my own experiences of growing up in rural Western North Carolina as a child of immigrant parents heavily informs my practice and passion for advocating for minority communities. I have experience working alongside clients as they explore racial identity, sexuality, and gender transitions; we all deserve a safe, judgment-free space to foster self-exploration.

I feel deeply privileged to have the opportunity to support individuals during their therapeutic journeys and witness the freedom that can be found in the healing process. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from Western Carolina University, with an emphasis on Integrated Health, and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of North Carolina. The care I provide is rooted in the core values of the social work profession: service, social justice, competence, importance of human relationships, and dignity and worth of a person. My work is based on a holistic, person-centered, strength-based perspective. I work with individuals to foster an environment that is built on mutual trust, safety, and collaboration. As a clinician I am invested in maintaining a growth mindset, not only professionally, but also personally; I learn from your insight and experiences daily.  I have worked in an outpatient setting with all ages and demographics, treating mood and anxiety disorders, in addition to addressing themes such as trauma, life transitions, break-ups/divorces, and identity exploration.

I believe community is the heart of the human experience and I draw from attachment theory to support individuals in healing relational wounds, whether romantic, familial, social, or professional. Sex can be perceived as a taboo topic that should be left out of conversations and tended to in isolation; I disagree. I work with clients to explore their relationships with sex and process themes such as sexual trauma, intimacy and kink/fetish. My style is eclectic, and I draw from a variety of modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Trauma Informed Care. I believe there is value to be found in including personal interests, hobbies, and creativity into the therapeutic process.

If you are reading this, you are likely on the precipice of feeling ready to pursue healing, and for that I applaud you. Addressing our deepest hurts, insecurities, and traumas can be intimidating, perhaps even terrifying for some, but know you are not alone in this process. Whether you decide to pursue therapy now or in the future, I encourage you to congratulate yourself on taking these initial steps. I look forward to the prospect of hearing your story.
